Our Services
As well as discretionary fund management, we are able
to advise and deal on a wide range of investments which
include: Collective investment vehicles such as Unit Trusts,
Investment Trusts, Offshore Funds and Investment Bonds;
stocks and shares; Personal and Inheritance Tax planning,
Executorship, Probate and Will services, Private Accountancy
and mortgages.
DISCRETIONARY FUND MANAGEMENT
The service we offer is designed for clients
who want to delegate the responsibility for investment
and administration to suitably qualified professionals.
Within the independently managed arrangements that we
offer, we make all of the investment decisions, yet
clients are kept fully informed of their investments
progress through efficient administration and reporting
by our administrators, BNP Paribas and Transact.
Our investment approach focuses closely on the following
simple principles:
|
Diversity Reduces Risk and
increases opportunities
By spreading investors capital over a wide range of carefully
selected, quality holdings, we are able to take advantage of
numerous worldwide opportunities in a lower risk manner.
Never follow the crowd
Rather than being influenced by periodic fads, we prefer to
concentrate upon high quality holdings with above average potential
for appreciation . Selecting tomorrows "star performers"
(not yesterdays "high-flyers") has always been
our aim.
Patience is a virtue
We are not short-term investors and believe that we can achieve
consistently solid performance over the medium to long term.
Therefore, investors are encouraged to ride out any period of
pessimism and wait for the inevitable upturn in fortunes. Market
downturns will also provide very real opportunities for additional,
"value for money" acquisitions.
By keeping to these principles,
we have managed clients money successfully since 1987.

INVESTMENT STRATEGIES
High Income Portfolio
This fund aims to provide
a high income return whilst also affording potential
for capital growth. The strategy currently yields a
sustainable 3.92% per annum.
Capital Growth Portfolio
A managed fund geared to provide
capital growth with a limited regard to income. The
components of the portfolio, being acquired on the basis
of value, afford substantial potential for the necessary
growth required on top of the current very acceptable
income yield of 3.77%. |
Balanced Portfolio
Best described as a managed fund geared
to place emphasis upon the provision of income and capital
growth in equal measure. Currently this portfolio affords
a sustainable income yield of approximately 3.87% per annum
which is in excess of that available from the bank or
building society and with excellent capital appreciation potential
on top!
Individual Savings Accounts (ISAs)
At Philip J Milton & Company we afford access to Stocks and Shares’ ISA allowances. Our ISAs are effectively tax privileged "wrappers" within which we place a basket of funds from any management group and some direct equities. The significant tax concessions that ISAs attract, namely exemption from Income Tax and Capital Gains’ Tax, make this type of investment very attractive.
Within our unique systems, we are also able to offer complementary ISAs to couples with the effect of minimising the duplication of ISA components and providing further invaluable diversity and risk management.
Presently, a couple investing £14,400 in two of our complementary ISA strategies to utilise their full ISA allowances will obtain exposure to up to twenty-six holdings. Of these, many will be collective funds (Investment Trusts or Unit Trusts). Not only does this level of diversity reduce the investment’s degree of risk but it also exposes investors’ capital to a wider range of market opportunities.

OTHER AVAILABLE SERVICES
Retirement Planning
Most of us look forward to the time
when we can stop working and free ourselves from the daily
pressure of earning a living. Retirement should mean relaxing
in comfort with sufficient time and money to do the things
we never had the time to do before. Sadly, for many people,
the reality is dramatically different as they are faced
with a substantial drop in living standards and in many
cases face serious financial hardship. Are
you setting enough aside to secure a financially comfortable
retirement?

We are pleased to offer our own discretionary
managed Pension arrangement, administered through Transact.
The style of our bespoke arrangement falls away from the straight-jacket
of Stakeholder legislation, providing an extra level of management,
resulting in slightly higher cost. However, the extra cost
involved for such benefit of absolute diversity, flexibility
and daily management direction is more than justified, we
trust, when considered against the potential results.
Like all of our discretionary managed
investments, the pension we operate through Transact is effectively
a "wrapper" service. Rather than restricting your
pension to the fortunes of one fund, we can and do choose
from amongst all Unit and Investment Trusts, OEICs, individual
stocks and shares, fixed interest holdings and cash when selecting
holdings within your pension account. This creates a very
wide and unrivaled investment spread to not only reduce the
investments risk profile but also increased return potential
through pursuit of a greater scope of opportunity.
Insurance Protection
Have you considered the financial implications
of you or a family member dying or being unable to work through
ill-health? What protection is available to you already from
your employment, existing policies or investments for example?
Are you over or under-insured ? Are you paying too much for
your protection?
Mortgage Broking
Not all mortgages are the same and some
lenders products are far less appealing than others.
Therefore it makes sense to review the entire market before
deciding on a particular mortgage. For an independent and
cost-free mortgage overview, we should be happy to assist.
Execution-Only Share dealing
The competitive terms of our execution-only
share dealing service stand at 1.5% of the consideration,
with a minimum of £22.50 per stock. Cheaper terms are
available for deals in excess of £10,000. Minimum costs elsewhere
are typically far higher. We charge no commission when sale
proceeds are subscribed to our managed strategies. Concessions on charges may apply for larger deals.
Tax and Accountancy Services
We are proud to be able to offer a highly
professional service for both taxation and accountancy through
our qualified team of tax advisers and accounting technicians.
We trust that the combination of Accounting and Tax qualifications
with the very specialised and high level qualifications throughout
the Company ensures a high degree of competence.
Our taxation services may be particularly useful to individuals
with the completion of tax returns or reclaims! Capital Gains
Tax planning and assessment is also an area where we can offer
assistance.
This is a highly professional, efficient and cost effective
service which includes a very valuable oversight of your tax
position, inclusive of your investment strategies and financial
planning.
Estate Planning, Probate Services, Will Writing and Executorship
Service
These services are designed to complement
the additional facets of our staunchly independent investment
management, financial planning and taxation and accountancy
services. Many of our clients enjoy the considerable benefit
of allowing each of these aspects to be catered for under
one roof as it enhances our efficiency in attending to your
affairs as a result of having more relevant information readily
available.
