Community, coffee and panto!

Enjoy coffee and chat at Choweree and panto at Croyde!
Apologies for such a rapid next eshot but this is something rather different. We’d like to introduce two special community events which we hope will encourage people to get out and about a bit, socialise with others and enjoy a little bit of chat and laughter. I do hope at some point in the coming weeks you may be able to attend one or both – and it would be good to see you!

Chooseday coffee and chat at Choweree

We are inviting any who wish to come along to our base at Choweree House every other Tuesday from 10.30am-12pm with a simple drop in special event with coffee, chat – and quite possibly cake! It’s all free and all are welcome, starting this Tuesday, January 10. It’s not ‘for’ anything, simply to open our doors to the community and to greet any and all who wish to pop in.

The lockdowns, pandemic and everything else that has been going on has made it very hard for many people in the past two years, losing their normal routines and many of the social interactions that go with them.

Sadly, if these gentle traditions of getting out and about and meeting friends stop happening, it’s often hard to get them going again. But that doesn’t mean we can’t create new ones! So, organised by the Philip J Milton & Company Plc Charitable Foundation and with support from the Firm, we wanted to reach out to our surrounding community and give a little back.
Whether you’re out shopping, meeting friends anyway or simply have 10 minutes to spare, do pop in for a cuppa, it would be wonderful to see you.

If possible we’d like people to confirm beforehand, just so we have an idea of numbers, but if you forget, just turn up! If you can though, please call us on 01271 344300 or email info@miltonpj.net.

Croyde Pantomime 2023 – Cinderella!

Will you turn into a pumpkin if you don’t see the show? Quite possibly!
The wonderful tradition of Croyde Pantomime is back this January and February, with plenty of comedy, music and laughter, hosted by the Croyde Players and of course, the reference to pumpkins has already told you it is Cinderella this time around!
Helen and I have supported – and taken part in – the pantomime for many years and it is always one of the highlights of our winter. You may have caught me last year as the Emperor of China! I shan’t say what small-bit-parts we have this year… you’ll have to come and see if I can remember all my words… I can tell you – investment management is far easier!

This year you can go to the ball with Cinders at a choice of six shows at Croyde Village Hall across two weekends, running on Friday and Saturday, January 27 and 28 plus Friday and Saturday, February 3 and 4. The first Friday show is at 7.30pm, with a 2.30pm matinee and another 7.30pm showing on the Saturday, with the same the following week, except the final show starts at 6.30pm.

The cast and crew have been working extremely hard to produce yet another cracking panto, featuring Elsie Lambert as Cinderella, Eva Matthews as Prince Charming and Reuben Rodwell as Buttons, plus an assorted supporting ensemble of great excellence, as well as some VERY Ugly Sisters!
For tickets, show times and more information, visit the Croyde Players website and book your seat now!

My best wishes
